Internet Marketing … The Hidden Obstacles
As promised in my previous post, here is one of the reasons
that got me discouraged with internet marketing.
* You might have noticed my server was offline for about a
day, around Christmas last year. The reason was a spam
complaint. To keep a long story short, there was totally
nothing to blame me for. And not even the member of my
site who caused the spam complaint, could be blamed for it.
Luckily, because of my extensive knowledge about email, I
could convince my hosting company to re-activate my server,
by explaining exactly what happened. But I know that for
many website owners, it would have been the end of their
websites.
I’ll probably write a report later with the details about what
exactly happened, and all the problems it caused. But for now,
I would just like you to understand that even with a lot of
knowledge about running a marketing site, website owners are
always at risk of loosing their server because of things like
spam complaints. Even if you aren’t to blame, and if you can
prove so. Even if you use a good hosting company, they won’t
always listen to reason when it comes to spam complaint. I
even had to correct their claim that the spam email was sent
through my server, while it was sent from a gmail account
(and thus totally out of my control).
It made me wonder why I did the all that effort of becoming
an email expert, while any ignorant person can cause such a
big problem to any website owner. I dodged the bullet now,
thanks to my knowledge about email. But knowing that my
hosting might some day shut down my server, for reasons
that are impossible for me to control, was a very big blow to
mymotivation for online business. And I know for sure that a
lot of honest website owners face the same risk, no matter
which hosting company they use.
* To end with some advice (and a call to my members to help
me stay out of trouble):
-
Don’t buy or sell email leads. Some smartguy marketer
came up in the past with the idea of selling email lists,
and ever since, a lot of people have been earning a lot by
selling them. But you are not supposed to buy email lists,
according to spam-laws. Email lists should be gathered on
the domain that the mailings will be sent from, otherwise,
it is always spamming. It’s quite disgusting that those
people who sell email lists (”leads”), are earning so much
money from it, while it’s something that will only put the
people who buy them in trouble.
-
Only use your link from my sites in mailings that are
reliable. Don’t use them in emails that you send to leads
that you bought somewhere. Make sure that people
always have one or more reliable ways to opt out from
your mailings (even then, there’s still more risks than you
might think).
-
Don’t submit other people’s email address in the signup
form of my sites, in order to add them to your downline.
Sounds only logical to me, but I think there might be some
members doing that.
* More reasons about the risks of online business, in my next
news updates.
Sincerely, Valleyken

Online marketers know that one of the fastest ways to increase traffic is to devote a responsible portion of your online budget to keyword buys at your major Pay-Per-Click search providers such as Google Ad-Words. Buy purchasing targeted keywords and keywords specific to your products, brand, and services; you stand a much greater chance to generate targeted traffic back to your website from much targeted users that are likely to convert at your site.
